Any similarities to any other tutorials online are purely coincidental.
This tutorial was written using PSP9 but can be done in any version.

Supplies:

  • Mask 10e_diamond_circle - Download the zip file here.

    • *** unzip and save the mask to your PSP mask folder ***
  • Penta VTR2 filter - Download the filter here.

    • *** unzip the filter to your PSP plugin folder ***
  • Filters Unlimited

  • Two tubes of your choice


    • You can drag this diamond to keep your place on the page.

    1. Open a new transparent canvas, size 600 x 450 pixels.

    2. Select a dark colour for your foreground and a light colour for your background.

    3. Change your foreground to the foreground/background gradient, linear, 45, 1, Invert unchecked.

    4. Fill the canvas with your gradient.

    5. Effects/Texture Effects/Blinds Width 10, Opacity 40, Horizontal unchecked, Light from top checked, using your light colour.

    6. Effects/Distortion Effects/Polar Coordinates, Rectangular to Polar, Wrap.

    7. New raster layer and fill with light colour. Filters Unlimited/Render/Clouds 172, 109. Change layer transparency to 60. Merge Visible.

    8. New raster layer and fill with dark colour. Load mask 10e_diamond_circle with Invert Transparency checked. Merge Group.

    9. Effects/Edge Effects/Enhance. Filters Unlimited/Paper Textures/Japanese Paper 30, 87.

    10. Add Drop Shadow V & H 3, Opacity 40, Blur 4. Shadow on new layer unchecked.

    11. Copy and paste main tube as a new layer. Move to the left as shown in my example. Add same drop shadow.

    12. Select Bottom Layer and close the mask layer. Paste second tube and move up and right. Reduce opacity to around 40 - 46 or until you can see the pattern on the circle showing through. If you like, you can experiment with the blend modes.

    13. Reopen mask layer. Merge All/Flatten.

    14. Selections/Select All. Effects/3D Effects/Cutout V & H 0, Opacity 100, Blur 20.

    15. Image/Add Borders 30. Selections Invert and floodfill with gradient from step 3. Keep selected.

    16. Effects/Texture Effects/Weave Gap Size 145, Width 180, Opacity 100. Weave colour is your dark colour and Gap Colour is your light colour. Fill Gaps checked. Keep selected.

    17. Effects/ Penta/VTR2. Distance 1, Width 1, Contrast 178, Ghost 0. Keep selected.

    18. Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel with these settings. Selections/Select None.

    19. Resize and add text as you wish.
